RULES OF THE TBAGS PAIRS’ COMPETITION

1. The competition is open to all fully subscribed members of TBAGS.

2. The draw for the competition will be made at the first fixture each year and the final must be played before the AGM fixture. The Competitions’ Secretary may decide to organize the comp on a group basis in the early rounds with only the semi-finals and final being played on a knockout basis. (See also rule 7 and rules 13-19 below).

3. Dates by which each round is to be completed will be published on the website.

4. It is the responsibility of the home pair (ie the pair drawn first for any fixture) to arrange the match.

5. The Competition will be a four ball better ball match play event played over 18 holes where normal match play rules apply.

6. Each match will be played on a “90% basis”, with the lowest handicapped player playing off scratch & all other handicaps taken from that. Handicap allowances (strokes) will be taken from the latest handicaps issued by the Handicap Secretary.

7. For knockout matches, players must decide at the outset of play how the match will be decided if the match is tied after 18 holes. Players can agree to replay, subject to meeting the deadline for completion of that round. (Matches played during the group phase – see rule 2 above – can be tied. See rules 13-19 below).
8. The match result must be recorded on a formal scorecard of the venue, signed by all four players.
9. The Competition will not be played on formal society days. Playing any other match play event (e.g. Captain’s Knock Out) simultaneously is not permitted.
10. If, after reasonable attempts by a pair to play a match, their opponents fail to agree to play or fail to turn up, the other pair may claim the tie by notifying the Chairman within seven days of the end date for the appropriate round. The Competitions Committee, consisting of the Chairman, Captain & Handicap Secretary will investigate the circumstances and their decision will be final.

11. The winning pair will receive the Pairs’ Comp Trophy at the AGM.

12. The usual rules of golf apply.
